Karate Weapon

Like most martial arts also has its weapons that are used in time of combat or during Olympic sporting events. These weapons help you become more flexible as well as move more gracefully as you perform the art of .

Many of these weapons in the olden days where of sword like because was often mixed up with some Chinese martial arts as well as the Samurai whose main weapon was the samurai sword, however since the swords became outlawed other substitute weaponry came into play.

The weapon was transformed into wooden form of weaponry because many of the people that studied and used the art were farmer and all they had were farm tools.


Some of these weapons were the six foot staff which was known as the Bo, the nunchaku which is two wooden sticks joined together by a chain or a chord, the Han Bo which is the smaller version of the Bo and is mainly a short wooden staff. There is also the Sai, which is a fork like metal weapon used as a pair and Kama which is two sickles used as a pair. There was also the Shinai which is a bamboo sword and Bokken a wooden sword. Last but not least was the Tonfa, which is a short wooden stick with extra handle and is used as pair.

Some of these weapons are still used today but more in the movies to depict , as well as in Olympic sport events. Learning how to use these weapons of will take time and you will have to learn to use them as you learn . Having someone instruct you is always an added bonus so join a dojo and start learning .
