The horse being one of the oldest forms of transport, it therefore is true to say that horse racing is also a very old sport. In ancient times this sport was for the royals. Times have changed and the sport can be enjoyed by anyone who can afford it. horse racing is widely spread and it takes place in almost every country. mostly betting and sometimes gambling go hand in hand with this sport. Gambling in some States is prohibited but you can find a place where you can enjoy the two activities together.

In the ancient horse racing it just used to be for fun around the 18th century, rules and regulations were introduced in to the game and it was officially made a sport. it was made a part of the Greek Olympics.

The most common type of horse racing is the Thoroughbred. The jockey is well mounted on the horse and its weight is borne by the horse as it enters the competition. Flat and jump are the two categories in the thoroughbred horse racing.

The other type of horse racing is the harness racing. Here the horse has to drag a cart and a jockey in it when competing. This type of racing is not very common. It has to be done by specially trained horses as the weight is very heavy.
Horse racing is very popular in some countries. You will find racing grounds that are very advanced in technology in these countries.
