Epoxy floor paints are used on floors that are subjected to heavy vehicular and human traffic, like the garage and the basement. They also work well on laundry room floors, shop floors, brick pavers, concrete slabs, kennels, pole barns, interior floors and on wooden car trailers. These floor finish is made such that it resists oil, dirt, water, grease, and many other contaminants that would make ordinary paint a mess. This is made possible through the use of tough resins that are mixed on application. This makes them the most cost effective solution to floor coating.

Epoxy floor paints come in three types i.e. Hundred percent solids; these do not contain solvents that evaporate. Solvent based epoxies; these adhere and penetrate well but they are hazardous to health and need that you ventilate your garage or basement well during application to avoid breathing the fumes that emanate from them. Water based; these are thinner, cheaper, maintains anti-slip texture and do not produce hazardous fumes. They require excellent ventilation to dry up though.

During application and drying of epoxy floor paints, clean the floor with a hard bristled brush and sweep away the debris, then scrub warm soapy water on the concrete floor and sweep it away also. To remove soluble contaminants, use a de-greaser by scrubbing it over the surface, then rinse with water. To be sure that your concrete floor is clean, the rinsing water should not stick on the floor. the garage floor should then be left overnight to dry. Apply your paint the following morning. Two to three coats are adequate for a good finish. Keep a clean cotton rag ready when using water based epoxy, and an epoxy thinner for solvent based epoxy to clean up any epoxy drips and spills.

Its toughness, its durability, its easy to clean finish, its salt and acid resistance is what endears me to this paint. Well, but these can only be attained from proper preparation, proper application and the time that you will give it to cure before you bring back your vehicle or allow traffic back.
